Rotary Convention in Seoul, Korea

Rotary International celebrated its 2016 convention in Seoul, Korea, with ca. 43.000 attendees. The Rotary International Convention is held once every year. Under the motto, ‘Service above Self’, the Convention is a venue where Rotarians from all over the world share their own success and accomplishments.

Two members of the RC Pudong Lujiazui participated in the convention, together with a group of ca. 20 Rotarians from all Shanghai Rotary Clubs. There where many highlights. Among them, the opening ceremony with UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon, and Korean Prime Minister Hwang Kyo-Ahn, the general sessions with many great and inspiring speakers, and the meeting with many Rotarians in the House of Friendship.

Beyond the convention, Seoul has many sights, markets and local food/culture to explore. Rotarians took the opportunity and could be seen everywhere in the city. The convention organizers and volunteers did a tremendous job to make the convention a smooth and joyful event.

The next convention will be held in Atlanta, USA, on June 10 to 14, 2017.
